Canal Ride 3 of 8

HOUSE BOATS!! are not something every European city can offer but floating accommodation is where Amsterdam comes into its own. Images of shimmering water, romance, adventure and a touch of the bohemian spring to mind, all contributing to the huge popularity of house boat accommodation among visitors to the 'Venice of the North'. There is lots to enjoy in a floating house in a city such as Amsterdam, with its stunning network of canals and ancient bridges. That's why you will find large numbers of residential houseboats moored along the city's canals - much beloved by the Amsterdammers!

When I think of houseboats I think of Amsterdam. Is that interesting looking round building to the ledft a church?
SAVO: I cant quite recollect Chris, I hardly listened to the tour guide and did my research later. Its a tower clock I believe but no church

When we first had to find an apartment in Amsterdam a few years back, SAVO, our realtor told us she used to show houseboats but no longer. I recall there can be some issues that she decided to no longer deal with. But I still think it would be fun for awhile. Here in Holland this winter, I've watched some owners outside chopping up the ice around their boats. I guess they do have their issues! But this is still a beautiful, idyllic shot.
SAVO: Yes I agree, everything has its disadvantages. I do not believe these fellows who live on house boats pay tax though so....
Wonderful capture Savo. The light is superb!
SAVO: I was lucky
This is what the city is famous of, these views
SAVO: I know. I thoroughly enjoyed it

SAVO: lol. with you on that one
Lovely light Savo, a summer home only I think. It makes me want to visit.
SAVO: I can imagine the winter months may not be so palatable
Its a great picture Savo..but I would have to straighten the buildings he he!
SAVO: I thought about that but was too lazy
My word that is a big houseboat Savo, much bigger than those we see in the U.K.
SAVO: Absolutely

Nice shot and commentary, Savo.
SAVO: Cheers Tom
