The Hindu Affair 3 of 8

SAPTAPADI (Seven Steps)
The Bride and Groom take seven steps together (They actually touch seven betel nuts or stones with the brides right toe). They exchange sacred vows at the beginning of each step. It is said in Hindu Philosophy that if two people walk seven steps together, then they will remain life long friends and will also be so in seven re-incarnations!.

Seven steps together? I'll have to talk to Astrid about this tonight, SAVO. grin I like that thought. So much to learn from the traditions of other cultures. So beautiful.
SAVO: I think you should ask, Ginnie. I like rich traditions and am always intrigued to find out more :p

Good heavens - I never knew all this!
SAVO: Me neither. I found it all very intriguing smile
Quite interesting Savo. The tones are superb!
SAVO: Cheers Richard
I think he got his fingers and toes mixed up! LOL
SAVO: HaHa, I think its more ceremonial rather than literal, and somehow the brides feet/toes are the more important factor :p

Great colour good info thank you
SAVO: Cheers Vintage smile
I love the idea that they will remain friends, the most important thing in a marriage is being friends.
SAVO: An idea that is lost in the current world...
Wow! This is brilliant, sharp with wonderful tones!
SAVO: Thank you Maimuna. It was a colourful event
Isn't that dress decoration fabulous. One wonders how these different ceremonial procedures arise in the first place.
SAVO: True, something starts locally I get and then gets perpetuated through the years
Interesting SAVO - but seven reincarnations as what? smile
SAVO: Thats a good question Tom. One would hope as Humans...maybe :s
