The Hindu Affair 8 of 8

Pilucinchuanu
Before the wedding car departs, the priest will place a cocunut under the front wheel of the car and wait for it to be broken by the weight of the car. The historic significance of this is that in the old days, the couple will use a horse drawn carraige and the breaking of the cocunut ensured that the vehicle was roadworthy for the journey!

A total DITTO to Ray's comment, SAVO. This has been a wonderful, informative series...and very colorful. I have never been walked through it like this before, so thank you. In this image, are you saying the priest is a woman or was this just an afterthought for the story?
SAVO: It actually is the mother who has placed the coconut on this occasion with the priest standing close by however I am told that this is also allowed. Cheers Ginnie smile

I think I'll put a coconut under the wheel of my own car today before I drive off. That'll confuse the neighbours!
SAVO: Thoroughly confused I agree smile
