photoblog image Sydney Harbour Bridge

Sydney Harbour Bridge

An Icon but I will post arguably a more famous one on Friday - not hard to guess :)

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a steel through arch bridge across Sydney Harbour that carries rail, vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic between the Sydney central business district (CBD) and the North Shore. The dramatic view of the bridge, the harbour, and the nearby Sydney Opera House is an iconic image ofSydney, New South Wales, and Australia. The bridge is nicknamed "The Coathanger" because of its arch-based design

I took the bottom image without a tripod and was inspired by the man in the middle of the shot (if you can see him), to risk limb an lfe to poistion myself underneath the bridge for the top shot which I achived with a tripod shielded from the rain by my body...the things we photogs do for a 'perfect' shot!

Very nice, SAVO.

As I am not presently in Australia, I can only guess the next icon you will show will be "the dog that sits on the tuckerbox, 9 miles from Gundagai".

[grin]
Beautiful colors! Well worth your suffering!

Oh yes, SAVO. The things we do! I have a nephew who lives in Sydney and have visited him there. Their icons are unforgettable, of course. My brother actually did the climb/walk to the top of this bridge, something I wish I had done. Maybe another day.

This is THE icon of Australia, although it is being pushed hard by the opera house.

Excellent! Yes, it is amazing what we will do in the pursuit of our art. I've seen shots of the bridge many times but never realised until now that it carried rail traffic, too.
A) I am glad you survived
B) It was worth the risk

Two super images well done
Sydney is the best city I have ever been in. If I lived there I would own a boat, not a car. Fabulous shot!
Your efforts certainly paid off savo. A wonderful shot

Great pictures, bith. Yes, we sometimes take risks for a good picture - but it is fun as well.
That is a real stunner, Savo - excellent presentation.
This bridge looks fantastic from this angle and with this lighting, a very strong image.
Great capture Savo, though I actually prefer the bottom capture!
